Yesterday SMART Technologies released a new feature add-on for SMART Notebook software called Notebook Maestro. This add-on allows the user to connect to Notebook from their iPad and easily control the software from their iPad. This is a feature that has been requested ever since the iPad app was first released. All the tools in the iPad app are available while using Maestro to make it easy to manipulate and add to the Notebook page.
Below is a simple video demo for you to get a full sense of what Notebook Maestro can do:
To get this up and running you will need to update the SMART Notebook iPad app and install the Notebook Maestro add-on to Notebook 14.2. You can download the add-on by going to the following address and filling out the form: http://info.smarttech.com/20141031-Notebook-Maestro-Download_Registration-page.html
There are a few limitations with Notebook Maestro. The first is that the screen doesn’t always update correctly on the iPad. This means that some normal features of Notebook will not be visible or work properly from the iPad, such as animations, Math Blocks, flash activities, and the activity builder. As with any first release there are still a few bugs: When I tried to do a color reveal with the magnifying glass Notebook completely crashed. However, it works great with writing, drawing, and moving objects. And as with other software add-ons, I anticipate future updates that will allow for greater functionality and fun in the classroom!
